*Mes de Historia de la Mujer en el MDC Campo de Hialeah

Nuevamente este año, el Miami Dade College Campo de Hialeah, nos honró con una invitación para participar en su celebración del Mes de la Mujer, pero esta vez sería para dos diferentes ocasiones.. El primer día fue el 20 de marzo cuando un grupo del Cove hiso una variada presentación de poemas, pintura, fotografía, música y temas como la violencia presentada através de una obra en un video, por María Ruíz. Participaron: Rosa con pintura y poesía, Teresita y Nilda con sentidos poemas, Estela con no solo su poesía, sino también nos sorprendió con muy buena fotografía (además de ser ella nuestra conección con el College.) Rodolfo, nuestro Delegado de Broward/Palm Beach, vino a leer su poema “Oda a la mujer” Cerramos con broche de oro con la voz del tenor Miguel Cervantes. El evento fue presentado por el Profesor Hernando Marín y Lucy Ruíz, quien encabeza el Comité del Mes de Historias de la Mujer en el MDC Hialeah Campus. Gracias al College por el honor y a ustedes todos por hacer posible momentos como estos.!
WOMEN HISTORY MONTH AT
MIAMI DADE COLLEGE HIALEAH CAMPUS

The College invited The Cove/Rincón once again to be part of their celebration of Woman History Month, this time for two occassions. The first day was March 20th and some of us presented poetry, painting, photography and music to a group of students. The event was hosted by Professor Hernando Marín and Lucy Ruiz, the Campus Committee Chair for Women History Month. Those of us participating were: Rodolfo Naranjo, who came from Broward County to read his poem “Oda a la mujer”. Rosa Fuentes presented poetry and painting, Teresita Llano and Nilda Puchades read very touching poetry and Estela García, who’s the liason between The Cove and MDC, not only delighted us with her poetry, but also surprised us with her great photography. María Ruíz talked about violence and presented a video of a very artistic and well done choreography on the subject. I was introduced by Prof Marín to talk about our organization and our magazine and I also read my poetry from two anthologies we published last year and from my last book. I addressed the audience in English and Spanish and read in both languages as well. To close we had the golden lock of Miguel Cervantes who talked a bit about Cuban Music and sang with his tenor voice, several Cuban traditional songs that left everyone longing for more. We thank the College for giving us the privilege of being part of this annual program again!
